How this plan worksThe 7-day planPrep planWhat to expect in your first weekMake it fit your budgetHow this plan works
- Three meals a day. If you are not hungry in the morning, skip breakfast and eat two bigger meals.
- Eat until you are comfortably full. Most beginners do not need to count calories in the first weeks.
- Salt your food well and drink water when you are thirsty.
- Leftovers are planned in, so you cook about once a day.
The 7-day plan
| Day | Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | Bacon & Eggs | Crispy Ground Beef | Oven-Crispy Chicken Thighs |
| Tuesday | Creamy Scrambled Eggs | Leftover chicken thighs | Crispy Pork Chops |
| Wednesday | Cheddar Omelet | Tuna & Egg Plate | Slow-Roasted Chuck Roast |
| Thursday | Soft-Boiled Eggs & Butter | Leftover chuck roast | Beef & Liver Burgers |
| Friday | Bacon & Cheddar Egg Muffins | Sardines & Jammy Eggs | Roasted Chicken Leg Quarters |
| Saturday | Steak & Eggs | Leftover chicken legs | Pulled Pork |
| Sunday | Beef & Bacon Breakfast Patties | Leftover pulled pork | Grilled Sirloin |
No dairy? Swap the omelet, scrambled eggs and egg muffins for Bacon & Eggs and cook with tallow or lard instead of butter.
Prep plan
- The Sunday before: make a batch of egg muffins. They keep 3–4 days in the fridge, so freeze the ones for Friday and thaw them in the fridge on Thursday night.
- Monday: cook a double tray of chicken thighs for Tuesday's lunch.
- Wednesday: put the chuck roast in the oven in the afternoon. It covers Thursday's lunch.
- Friday: roast a full tray of chicken legs, enough for Saturday's lunch.
- Saturday: start the pulled pork in the morning (oven or slow cooker), it is ready for dinner and Sunday's lunch.
What to expect in your first week
- Some people feel tired, get headaches or have trouble sleeping for a few days while their body adjusts. Salting your food and drinking enough water helps many people.
- Digestion can change. If very fatty meals upset your stomach, choose leaner cuts for a while and add fat slowly.
- Cravings for sugar and snacks are usually strongest in the first days and fade for most people.
- If you take medication, especially for blood sugar or blood pressure, talk to your doctor before you start, as your dose may need adjusting.
